As specified in Directive 085: Fluid Tailings Management for Oil Sands Mining Projects, operators submit Tailings Management Reports for the previous year’s performance (January to December) to the AER on April 30 of each year.
The AER publishes a report on the State of Fluid Tailings Management for Mineable Oil Sands by October 30 each year.
Operators submit tailings measurement system plans to the AER which are updated as required. The measurement systems plans and plan updates are made publicly available.
