Release Date
New editions of Directive 058: Oilfield Waste Management Requirements for the Upstream Petroleum Industry (Directive 058) and Directive 047: Waste Reporting Requirements for Oilfield Waste Management Facilities were published on March 5, 2026 (see Bulletin 2026-08 for more information).
These new editions of the directives are available on the AER website and will come into effect on June 4, 2026. Other related changes that will also take effect on June 4 include the following:
- Updated waste and reporting codes in Petrinex.
- A new edition of the Alberta Oilfield Waste Form, which is also available through the AER Products and Services Catalogue.
- New Directive 058 application schedules available on the Directive Forms landing page.
- Manual 034: Oilfield Waste Management, the new companion guide to Directive 058.
- Directive 030: Digital Data Submission of the Annual Oilfield Waste Disposition Report will be rescinded.
